Title: Electrical heads or tails
Post by Philmh on 01/21/15 at 16:57:14

So, once again, when it comes to electrical, I'm a moron.  I got two cubes under the tank, left and right, and I got a rectangular box under the seat above the carb at the bottom of the down tube.  What is each one for?

1)Left side (horn side). (Horn?)

2)Right Side (Blinkers?)

3)Under seat (Solenoid Module?)

I'm building the Ryca mod and they can't be where they are anymore and all have to be towards the back.   I hope I can eliminate them, otherwise I will need to extend the wires, or undo the harness and run them back to the uprights.

Thoughts?

Pictures may be needed.

It helped a little.  Pictures at this point would do little because parts are no longer where they should be.......

Best I can tell. The box beneath the seat is the decomp controller.

The other, on the left side is the side stand relay.

The other box is on the same mount as the side stand relay but on the other side.  What is it?

Thoughts on keeping or cutting these out?  I'm sure I need some of them.

Yep....instead of us trying to guess for you....Why don't you post photos for us?

You don't know what you are looking at. You want us to agree or disagree with what you are guessing they are. I'm pretty sure you know how well that's gonna work.
But,the decompression controller is under the front of the seat.

You both are right!  Pictures to come with more details.  I don't want to have any guessing about things I may or may not need to make the bike run come spring.   ha ha ha.  Unfortunately it will have to wait till Saturday.

Cube on the right side is probably the turn signal flasher.

He is probably just waiting on someone who knows how to post pictures...
I can relate.. I Have posted pics, but it took all day to figure it out and less than an hour to forget how. My family laughs at me. They don't understand how someone can Do the things I do and be so UNable to do what they call simple...

Phil,, just how deep are you into this Ryca thing?
What would you think about just getting it back to stock(ish) and riding and hanging out here and learning your way around the bike before you do a complete remodel?

Hey all.  Life got in the way this past week and I have had little time to work on the bike.  Here are the pictures.  I can only figure out how to do one at a time though.

This picture is of the left side of the bike at the steering stem underneath the tank.

Justin, I actually have been planning for four years to do a project like this.  I bought the bike specifically to do this to it.  Currently the Ryca project is near complete.  Its on two wheels and awaiting a chain.  At this point, turning back isn't much of an option.    Wasn't much of a fan of the ride as it was stock anyways for my needs and this was a second bike/fun/learning project for me.  Once again, if it wasn't for people like you, I couldn't have learned how to fix something as simple as an oil plug leak or a misplaced washer causing starter binding.

Here I the box I mentioned that was attached to the frame by a rubber loop and sat on top of the carb and under the original seat.

So thanks to an old topic that was brought up new again and Gheorge, I figured out what I was looking at and now need advice on cutting some wires.   The unit below is the solenoid module. (I think)

I have two options, extend all the wires or remove the module.  I would like to remove it because from what I read, If I don't have the starter solenoid, I don't need it.

Gheorge mentioned soldering the power wire to the rest of the starter system circuit.  Problem is...... which is the power wire and what in the starter system circuit do I solder it to?

Below in the picture for clarification, the wires from left to right are as follows: Yellow/Black, Red/White/Blue, Yellow/Green, Black/White, Black/Red.

Here is the topic I am referencing for cutting out the module.
