Title: Cracked Hose
Post by pgambr on 01/20/15 at 04:35:55

I was looking over the S40 getting it ready for spring time and I notice I may need to replace a hose and I wanted to get your thoughts.

The real thick hose on top of the head has a crack about a 1/2 inch long where it attaches to the head.  I looked in my Clymer and it looked like it runs to a charcol box.  I don't really understand that.

I put some RTV on it and wrapped it good with electrical tape.  I took it out yesterday and it ran great and I got real good gas milage as well.
Thanks for your insight.

Best regards,

Sounds kinda Cali Model like stuff. I wonder if it's the fat, thin wall tube the oil blow by goes through.. If so and the split is on the end, then maybe you can just cut it off,,,Whatever,it's a no pressure hose, any kinda answer will be enough.

The really thick hose from the head goes to the air box....it is the breather hose.  Unless you order the one from the factory.....it is hard to find the right stuff at your autoparts store.

I ended up ordering 10mm Silicone Vacuum hose online as I could not find anything locally that would work.

Mine's stiff, cracked, and a little weepy, but it still works okay...

I could say the same about myself, actually... :-?...
