When you say full fenders, do you mean the stockers, or did you find other, even fuller fenders to fit?

Art
No just the stock fenders with a mud flap big enough to actually do what its supposed to.  I'd like even more front fender so the water doesn't come back on my pants legs .  :)

I would, too, that's why I asked
I'm a fan of the heavily valanced fenders they used to use on motorcycles back in the day, as well as the old beach bars (I think that's what they're called nowadays)
too bad there's no 'c' version of the S40 to steal fenders from
I'd also like a comfier seat, sheild (that, at least, I can get) and luggage
how'd you do the mudflaps? make your own?

This is a useful thread for those folks who ride in wet weather.  The stock fender can be improved for wet weather riding.  You can buy a universal mud flap like shown in the following video - or you can just cut one from heavy rubber or plastic.  The longer/wider you make it the more protection you will get - however you need to balance looks and function.

Thanks Dave, didn't mean to revisit a covered topic, I need to learn to use the search function
Also I should quit hijacking threads

You do all that and nobody will know you're still here... you aren't hurting anyone that I've seen...
Thread drift is no biggie and anyone can redirect one at any time.
Poodles,,anyone wanna talk about poodles?

Yep....No biggie.  I just split the thread apart so that it wasn't hidden in a pulley thread and everyone could benefit from it.

When the front tire goes through a puddle, it splashes the water up and to the sides. My boots catch that splash as the front pegs (and my feet) travel through the splash.

Now, when I ride my other machine with rear sets, I don't get this problem as much. I suspect that's because the additional distance of the pegs gives the splash time to clear the area around the foot pegs.

A mudflap helps reduce the amount of water that hits the frame tube, but it does nothing to keep my feet dry on puddle wet roads.

So, until I can figure out how to fit some 'foot fairings' to the pegs, I make do with waterproof boots and snow gaiters that allow the water to splash around my ankles.

If I were a better fabricator I'd try to figure a way to make a valanced front fender
Maybe someone out there makes one that might fit
Hmmm

I've been seen with my boots up on the motor in the cold and wet.
A Deflector down on the pegs,,,hmmmm...

probably easier than making (decent looking) skirts for the front fender  :)
I'd love to see the feet on engine thing, I'm sure I simply lack imagination,. but I can't picture how you are doing that

Oddly enough, one of the first things on my "to do list" for the S40 was a front mud flap.  I wasn't thinking of my feet, more the crankcase from getting sand blasted on gravel roads.

Justin,

You are going to have to move to North Texas. I was riding yesterday in 70 degree warmth, sunshine, and a good time on my Blast.

Waiting on parts for the S40.

I was in Tyler, headed home,to Longview, I was so wet that I could feel the plug fire when I put feet down at a light. I'm surprised it didn't shut off..
I don't ride anymore. I can't hold it up,shoulders are so clapped out I use both hands to carry a lousy gallon jug of water. Factor in a Trick Knee, idiots on cellphones, comes out,, I'm should not ride.

Naaa, I just can't call that riding, man. I'm o.k.,, I hardly ever actually cry about it.. I do still get a little choked up once in a great while, but the memories of the idiots trying to kill me while they text really helps let it go.

The one constant worry I have when riding....is the folks that are Texting or otherwise distracted.  Almost every night on my way home I see a driver weaving in an out of the lane, or driving varying their cruise speed by 20mph up and down as they try to drive and text.  For some reason they don't understand how dangerous they are to themselves and others.

yup, many states made it illegal to talk on cells, so now the idiots text (to be fair, some of them text even where it's legal to talk
I stay off my phone in the cage

Me too... around here,.. nobodie's paying attention...

They need to make cell phones not work at speeds over 10mph for anything other than 911 calls...
Also,.. make an automatic $50 fine on your bill, if you try to use it while driving...
People argue..."What about passengers?"...NO!...  "What about on buses?"...NO!...
Open alcohol containers are not allowed in moving vehicles,... for passengers or drivers... same goes for cellphone use... You caan't drink on buses either...
Texting is twice as dangerous as drinking... So, NO!...
I can't believe car manufacturers are building this cr@p into the dashboards of cars!... I hope they get their butt's sued off...

BAAh,.. Humbug!... :(...
Shaddup n' drive... ;D...
