Title: Moderators
Post by pgambr on 01/13/15 at 10:26:46

Gents:

I have been on the forum for a good while now and I want to take the opportunity to thank the moderators.  They are always happy to help and answer questions in a timely manner.  I'm sure it get's tiring addressing many of the same inquiries; although, they always do.  They also forgo a lot of their free time without an compensation to make the forum a wonderful resource for us.  Thanks again.   ;)

Best regards,

I agree 110%.

I vote (seriously) that we start a fundraiser and at the end of the time frame we split it three ways and get 'em something snazzy depending on what funds are raised.

Anyone out there any good with setting up and managing something like that through a crowd funding site or PayPal?

Ah Haw !!!!!!    -   Admittance !!!!!

So then their is NO reason NOT to send one of those Fine, old time MC Leather Jackets, (Which you have no need for in AZ), in my size to me.   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Reminds me. Several years ago, I used to write for a 'Dog' Mag.
At a Field Trial, I, and 3 others, 'writers', were having lunch in the tent.
Sitting on a table with the Owner of the Mag.

Table behind us, and next to us, had, 'strangers' on it.
who were their just looking at the dogs.

I said, loudly, "Art, (the owner of the mag), there are Three other writers here, for your magazine, We want a  RAISE".

Art said:  OK, I'll give you DOUBLE, what you are getting now".

The, 'visitors', dropped their mouths.

(  2 times, 0,  STILL, equals,   0 )

I started as a SysOp of the SWAMPS BBS, in 1981.  Circa 1990 I was a moderator on FidoNet.  In 2000 I got a personal message on Dslreports.com that I given moderator powers, do with whatever you want.  In 2002 the owner got paid moderators, that ignored their own rules, and I left.  Started my own forum, and realized that MaBell finally how to install DSL and the forum wasn't needed.

But bottom line, paid moderators are bad -- keep working even after if it is fun.  Non-paid moderators do the job because the care about the forum -- and when they get tired of the job they leave.  When was the last time you saw Sluggo posting?

They do a very fine job, perhaps they should set up a thank you page on this forum to which the members should make monthly post contributions saying how much they appreciate their collective efforts. I'd give money if I had any to speak of.

Personally I would gladly buy lunch, fill tank if one or
more of the Moderators could make it to this corner
of the globe.
Their are several of us NW riders that would enjoy some
meet, wrench and ride time.

I am very thankful for all the useful information they give
to us. It saves us all money as well as helps us become
more accustomed to our bikes.
Thank you and Genie and I are looking forward to another
riding season.. :)

Thanks, mods for taking the time.  I participate in several other forums also and this one is way the best!

(Also partly because savage owners are so comparatively awesome! )

Buy lunch? Fill the tank? Contribute money? Can I be a moderator too?   ;D

Seriously though, you guys make this site the best one around for anything LS650/S40 related!

+1 on "Thank-You" to the moderators.
They're much more than just moderators;
they're very knowledgeable and active contributors.

Overpaid!  You get paid?  Does that only apply to the Senior Moderators with more than 17,000 posts!

This is a great forum, and I am happy to be an active part of it.  It was very helpful to me when I was a noob a few years and 6,000 mile ago...Oldfellor, MMRanch, Lancer, Sjaskow, all got to see my Noobiness when I had a loud knock in my bike and had to find out what it was.  A compete engine tear down and hop up, and a Cafe' conversion the next year and I had learned a lot more about my Savage and the good and bad things about it.  I fully intend to keep my Savage the rest of my life!

The folks on this forum play very well together, can be funny, and as long as you stay out of the Tall Table (and oil threads) you aren't likely to be subject to any hostility.

Thanks for your support!  :)

DoooWhut? How DARE you suggest that by avoiding the Tall Table and oil threads you're safe from aggressive behavior?
See,you just got some,,

Dave showed up and went from noob to knowledgeable in a very short time.
He is also a calm natured, considerate kinda guy. We have a quite different forum and some cool folks who keep it working.. that, well,I believe, anyway, that any problems with your bike are more likely to be solved here than in the shop. Certainly more affordably
