Ever see a British auction? IIRC,they don't sound like porky pig with a deep voice.. I don't enjoy auctions because of the style. I totally dig the tractors, cars, trucks and bikes, but the screaming clown abbuduhhabbuduhh
14 abbuduhhabbuduhh 1450abbuduhhabbuduhh makes me wanna throw a brick through the TV.

AND now, we have a 1968 Honda450,  who will bid $3,000.00
We have $3,000.00,, Who will bid 4?
Why can't they just do that?

It must all be to do with national/regional styles. I remember an antique car auction conducted in NZ by Sotheby's the well known British auction house. The locals couldn't understand why there was no clear thump of the gavel at the end of each sale, merely a light tap. This confused some people. Sotheby's maintained that a clear thump or bang of the gavel "detracted from the sale". I don't think I would care for abudahdudha but maybe it's a way of whipping up auction frenzy.

it's a way of whipping up auction frenzy.

that sentence nailed it, every auctioneer who does it insists it results in higher bids
That said, the higher end auction houses, at least those I've seen on TV, even in the US, don't do that
