Every year each cashier asks for a dollar donation to help buy Xmas gifts and school supplies for the children of vets. And then they give out a big Yahoo when someone donates making everyone else feel like they should donate also. It is misleading and dishonest. What they do is throw in a pack of pencils or a cheap toy that they pay a few cents for when they buy in wholesale. Misleading because they actually only donate the pack of pencils they pay 6 cents for. The rest of the dollar, 94 cents, goes back into store profit. I asked the store o stop doing this and they asked me to leave and not come back. I called their corporate headquarters and have emailed them several times to verify it and they will not answer my reply. I like to give to those in need but it seems many of these solicitors are in it for the wrong reasons. St. Jude's is the only donation that I give each year now. |

Post by ToesNose on 12/20/14 at 05:03:58 I am very fortunate and I've always given back donating to charities some close to home and some that help the masses, every year I try to find a different or fun charity to help out with a small donation. This year I came across 'A Cow for Flying Kites' it's a charity that is set up to specifically help a primary school in Kenya for orphaned kids, they need a COW and a MOTORCYCLE!
