Title: winter storage: vertical

Rather than store it on the sidestand, I bought a harbor freight wheel chock, bolted it to a 2x12 plank, rolled the bike into it and voila! vertical storage. dead simple to check oil level before a ride. It won't tip over.
How do you guys store your bikes? :D

Upon first reading the title of this post I thought it meant vertical like bike facing upwards...headlight directed at the ceiling...that would be a sight!

Down here we don't have too much winter storage on account of you can almost ride 365.

Wheel chock is a great alternative to center stands (which we obviously don't have).

Have you seen the stuff in the tech section about how to make a poor man's bike stand?

My bike usually ends up on a lift during the winter months....sometimes up on a bench.  The winter is when the bike gets taken apart and things get modified or maintenance done.

during our long cold winter I also lift my bike.. and it plunges into deep and long sleep and I plunge into a long meditation - what can I change  and what I'll need to maintenance done.

That's how I lifted mine off the truck the night of my 'bad night in the big city thread'
I'll bet that was REALLY a sight, too bad I don't have pix lol

What issues are associated with storing the bike on the sidestand? I've done that the past two winters, riding the bike a few times on days when the roads were clear, and have experienced no flat spots or other signs storing on the sidestand was a problem, but maybe I'm not looking for the right stuff.

Thanks,
David

pure preference.  makes it easier for any maintenence on left side. bike looks cooler upright, lol! :D
