Drop on down,, OR,, subject your eyes to info, offensive to some, welcomed by others..

Imagine coming up the driveway, waking your kid up,,, saying

"We're Home,,  Get your stuff together,, Or,, If you dont wanna,, Ill have the butler come out and bring it in"

It Could happen,,!

Pretty for sure but I wonder how they heat that place? It would take a forest of firewood just for one winter.

When things like that were built, they mostly didn't heat them.   Fireplaces and live coal braziers were the vogue and they really didn't do all that much heating except in a small space like a bedroom area.

You wore a lot of clothes back then and you wore a hat to bed, which was a thickly curtained device that held in body heat.

Old toothless rich men like us had female body servants or young wives who kept us warm at night.   And sleeping with a dog or two in the bed was not unusual, dogs made good curtained bed warmer uppers if a young wife or servant girl wasn't available.

..........................   and if you look closely at the woods, all the trees around that castle are very young new growth type trees.    Back in the day no trees would have been allowed anywhere that close to the primary defensive walls.    You'd keep your clearances cut well back, at least for a twice a longbow shot's distance or a large catapult's distance  from the walls, cutting down and burning the wood every year for cooking and what small area heating that you actually did do.

Yeah - but for me last night.....it was the wife and 2 cats.  When my wife was going through "The Change" a few years back....she could sure throw off a lot of heat!

Yep...middle of winter my wife would have the ceiling fan running and another fan on the floor on her side of the bed.  Sometimes my pajamas were just not enough and I would have to get up and put on a hoodie!
