Folks that vote are stupid and politicians want to keep it that way?

Is the press stupid too, for they can't catch lies either?

No, not in my opinion.  The press is merely the propaganda wing of the establishment, I am partial to the term "presstitutes".

During his 1956 presidential campaign, a woman called out to Mr. Stevenson "Senator, you have the vote of every thinking person!" Stevenson called back "That's not enough, madam, we need a majority!"

Adlai Stevenson (1900 - 1965)

The entire "Obama" brand was a lie. Well, a lie in the marketing sense of a tv commercial. We know Ford and Chevy both can't have the best pickup so we understand when they claim 'My truck is the best at _______' , we know it's just a commercial, it's advertising. Our brain understands most of the performance claims are based on half truths that are extrapolated to Biblical proportions!

I contend that in 2008 the main stream media, which is suppose to act as a mediator, fell in love with the "commercial" that is Barack Obama, they turned into the equivalent of Consumer Reports magazine and told everyone he was the real deal. He will make the oceans receed and our planet heal. Enough wishy-washy folks bought it and now we're living with the reality of buying a product that we should have known was too good to be true.

Anyone with a brain knew they were lying about Obamacare and many on this forum said that. The only surprise is that this guy was dumb enough to say out loud what they all knew: most of America is stupid and easily fooled.

Agree.. many in here were doubtful .. but some still hopefull for the bill. I was not convinced it was good, but then I work in medicine so I kinda have my own take on it.

As to this tape and the hub-bub. I think it is great it came out ( even late) but it will only server to embolden more of the same. That is to say, next time ... lowly architects may commit suicide in the park once their usefulness is done. ( or jump from high buildings)  :-X

The interesting segment of the population in this may be blacks. How do they feel? Younge educated blacks, who are now trapped paying for ACA may not be easily fooled a second time. ( thus the need for 4 million latinos?)  Will the GOP become Blacks and Whites versus the latino democrat vote???

Old chineese curse (I think) "may you live to see interesting times"... drats we're cursed!

When you read all of the horror stories going around in 2008 thru 2010 of people denied coverage due to pre-existing condition exclusions, and people with the same issue forcing them to stay in a job they wanted out of just because the bad job had health insurance and they couldn't quit since they couldn't get coverage elsewhere; all of that, even if taken as true, just made my point.
Most all of the "problems" with the existing insurance system prior to 2010 could have been easily fixed with two simple solutions:
First, outlaw pre-existing condition exclusions, and then outlaw lifetime maximum coverage limits in health policies.  Nothing else was needed.

Bingo - problem solved.  Of course, it was too easy and simple.

Jerry, what is the cost (added) to healthcare against litigation, etc?

I remember (I am almost 62) as a kid my parents paid out of their pockets, and our doctor even made house calls...... what has changed?

Also, we had "clinics" where we could go for vaccinations, colds, and simple medical procedures.
I remember having my broken wrist attended to (cast) at one....
Why don't we have these anymore?

Finally, why can't we have free medical schooling for anyone who can muster it, with the pay back being upon graduation and MD degree they have to work at "free clinics/hospitals"l for so many years to pay for the schooling.
Give big pharma and medical manufacturers great tax incentives for giving these clinics free or reduced products....
Sort of a private and public two stage healthcare system?

RayDawg -
I've gotta run in a minute or three, so I can't type a long reply.
Basically, comparing the medical world we knew as kids ( I'm 67 ) to today's medicine is like comparing an M1 rifle of WW II to today's advanced infantry weapons.
When we were kids, any diagnosis of cancer was a death sentence.  There were no stents or bypass operations for heart patients - if you had a clogged artery, you were a cardiac cripple until you died.
Common infectious diseases like the pancreatitis that killed my Dad in 1964 are now 90% curable.
The very quantum of medical knowledge doubles every few years.  And, far more people have access to doctors, hence they don't have time to take 2 hours to make a house call rather than 15 minutes to see a patient in the office.
More later.
Jerry
