Title: Happy Veterans Day
Post by AlfromNH on 11/11/14 at 10:45:12

Thanks to all the Vets and their families for their sacrifices. I have today off and was going to go out for a ride when I remembered that my bike never got registered last month. Took a drive over to city hall to register it and then remembered that city hall is closed on Veterans day. So I raked leaves instead. Not as much fun but it needed to be done.
here's a picture of the F4 Phantoms that I used to work on. This pic is from when we were deployed on the USS Coral Sea.

I used to take care of the parachutes, survival equipment, Pilots helmets, oxygen masks, anti-g suits, etc. I also worked on the flight line during flight ops. That was a lot of responsibility for an 18 year old high school drop out. My parachutes were only needed once when an aircraft was in trouble after launching off the aircraft carrier and the pilot and co-pilot had to eject. Everything worked as advertised. Pilot bought me a bottle of wild turkey and the co-pilot bought me a case of beer but not until we reached port.
