Title: Can I use this rim?
Post by paulmarshall on 11/03/14 at 12:29:07

Hello I have located a OEM Honda rear rim 2.15x17 36 Spoke Chrome and dimpled. Can I lace this rim to the savage front hub?

It depends a bit on the angle of the holes for the nipples/spokes.  Was this rim used on a bike with a drum brake.....or a small hub and disc brake?

If the original bike had a small diameter front hub......most likely you can use it.

Its off a rear hub similar to our drum rear. I want to use it on our front hub set up.

Why did you want this particular rim?  Man, those old Honda's have a hard enough time finding parts, no need to take them out of the pool!   ;D

I want a 2.15x16 36 spoke rim to match the 4.25x16 36 spoke rear. Currently the front is a stock 2.15x19. Most people convert both front and rear to 18 but I spent the good part of $1000 2 years ago fitting a wider 4,25x16 on the rear when I was doing the bobber build. Now I'm doing the Cafe build I am keeping the 16 on the back and changing the front to match. Unfortunately living in NZ I have to import a rim from the UK or US like I did with the rear. I don't want to spend the same again.
So when I saw this rim selling for $120 I was interested, how ever it did not specify front or rear. I found out that it was a rear for a drum, If it was front I could have used it.
