Title: Starter turning on when I shut down? Post by carcaveman on 10/25/14 at 21:24:21 After idling my 2001 Savage bike in the garage for a while, I went to shut it down and it backfired a little and then it sounded like the starter teeth were briefly in contact with the flywheel? and spinning down for a couple of seconds. From what I've read on this forum, I understand backfiring to be common on a stock bike, which mine is, but what would cause the starter to come in, some kind of electical surge in the ignition system. I use the ignition cutoff switch to shutdown the bike. I appreciate any help or advice as I recently bought this bike and haven't had a chance to ride it yet. I still need to take my MSF class etc. Thanks, David. |

I just want to make sure nothing is getting damaged. How does the torque limiter work? In my research, I haven't seen anything about it. David, |

Title: Re: Starter turning on when I shut down? Post by carcaveman on 10/28/14 at 19:42:47 Thanks Dave, This is an interesting discussion. I think the decompression switch idea is cool, but it looks like I'm covered with the 2001 model, so I probably won't do anything. David.. |
