Hey guys just thought I'd share some pics of the progress and get any feedback. Here it is about 6 months after I bought it stock except for the drag bars I don't think those are stock. right after this pic was taken I put on new mirrors,grips and kuryaken levers for a honda shadow. I've had it about four riding seasons now and started tearing it down around the first of the year to rebuild it from the ground up. I got the beast performance package from lancer with a 97mm wossener piston, bored cylinder with silicon carbide treatment, a stage 2 racing cam from Webcam racing, a 36mm Mikuni carb with ufo,new jet set, ported head and bead blasted. (Thanks Lancer great job on everything) :) Also got the Verslavy cam chain tensioner and a set of Barnett clutch springs and EBC high performance clutch plates. That's about all for the engine. I had thought about knife edging the wheels(crankshaft).Faster rpms that drop just as fast :D but after a bit of researching I figured that $800 would be better spent elsewhere I could have polished the crank and flywheel though that would have been nice. That's about all that can be done for performance mods on the engine short of a supercharger like rynocycles or running NOS but you can squeeze more horsepower out in other places. But I ordered the wrong size chain I got a 520 instead of a 530 and the links won't fit into the sprocket teeth so I just tossed the seat and fender on there to get an idea of what it's gonna look like and called it a night.http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e303/askim4201/savage2_zps4b341a8c.jpg

Lookin' nice! Your pics at the beginning don't have the hardtail so we're looking forward to the completed project.
Hey, I've been having a heck of a time finding the size and shape tool roll I like. Where'd you get yours? That's a great size for our bikes.

It's a La Rosa tool bag distressed brown to match the seat. this weekend I'm gonna fab a battery box and mount the fake oil bag. Also I need to weld on a tab for the pivot point on the brake plate. I get my DNA springer front end in a few weeks and take it up to Cycle One to have it modified to fit my neck. [side note- I did order the savage springer conversion kit off ebay from Ardcore choppers but after a month and still no product I got a refund and bought some TC Bros. forward controls instead. So I can't say if that would have worked.] I also had Red at Cycle One modify my gas tank by removing the speedo cluster and covering the hole and also weld in a my new Seven Sins gas cap. Also I'm removing the switch housings on the handlebars and using momentary switches and a mini toggle for the kill switch so I need to get a new throttle control housing. Just got my headlight in the other day will post pics of that later it has the turn signals in the headlight. pretty cool, probly not street legal but every time I get pulled over for it, it will be news to me :-?

Is the hardtail a kit or available?I like the looks of it a little better than the Voodoo Vintage one.(Not knocking Voodoo,they have some kickass stuff)I don't like the seat post on their's.

The frame was done by Cycle One in OK. You can check out their stuff on the web at cycleonemanufacturing.com. I like it one thing I ran into which I wouldn't call it a problem cause I don't mind either way but the carb won't sit straight in there with the air pod since it's change to a single backbone instead of the split backbone on the stock front loop. So I'm gonna mount it to the right side. Might go with a velocity stack now instead of the air pod. But I'm happy with the results and working with Kate and Red at Cycle One on finishing this project.

Just wanted to share a few pics with you guys. I don't post pics enough to remember which embed link to paste so bare with. Got her put back together doing the wiring now with momentary switches. Got a biltwell whiskey throttle to replace the stock switch housing. Also need to fab a carb adapter collar for the mik and velocity stack. Gonna skip the skeleton key ignition for now till I can come up with something more secure that a flathead won't work. My headlight with built in turn singnals to deep for my ironhead headlight bucket so gotta throw a little metal in the middle and stretch it out to fit. Like the double chrome trim.

Are you running the stock rear brake? The forward control looks like it would push the rod backward, instead of pulling. Are you going to flip the brake arm over in back? Seems like the rod would bow under load if it was pushing. Whatever, it looks like it will be A BAD ASS BOBBER!!!

Mind the crappy stock wiring job just trying to get it runnin for bbb rally in September. But yeah it does push rigged this up halfway down the line. Pushes on bottom pulls on top hard to see but just a 3" long x 1/4" flat bar and a few more hiem joints on the brake side. It's solid no bend on the contrary. I have heard some stories on mechanical brake lines being mushy but this feels right on. Probly cover the all thread with a chrome housing.

Yeah it's a stock rear brake relaced to an 18 x 2.50 excel rim. Also good eye on that brake. I didnt realize it was gonna push till we got close to install. ;D

Reverse the brake arm I didn't think of though. That would look cool upside down with a long all thread angled way up there to the top.hmmmmm hell this will never be truly finished might look into that for this coming winter tear down when I actually paint it.

Wolf, As long as the rod does not ''give'' you should be able to push or pull to activate the brake. Pushing changes witch is the ''leading'' shoe, but I think it is built pretty symmetrical. Just stand on it from the side and you can easily tell.
I did years of ''punch out'' working construction, now I always ''see'' what could be a problem. I look at a 3000 brick wall and only notice the 2 crooked bricks. Guess it's sort of a pessimistic curse.

This was my solution when I extended the forward controls. I made a push-me-pull-you with a sprinkler pipe bracket bolted and welded to the frame, and a stainless rigging plate from a boat chandlery forming the pivot. The brake light switch is held by a 20mm conduit clamp to the frame, linked directly to the pivot.

The pushrod is a 10" long 5/8 rod, so beefy enough not to buckle. The forward plates are made from 3/8 aluminium plate and allowed me to use readily available controls from the net.
