Title: Savage 1992 Engine
Post by Olofsson123 on 10/24/14 at 05:56:30

Hi, I have a '92 Savage.
But my motor is broken & I need a new one.
I'm looking at ebay right now & I found a engine from 2006.
It's looks the same but does the engine fit my frame ?
Or do I need to make some adjustments ?
Thanks  :)

The engine mounting points are all the same, and they can be interchanged.

See Verslagen's response below for issue with rotor/stator/timing.

In the states we didn't get the years from '90 to '94
so we can't say for sure your old brain box will work with your new engine.  It should wire up the same, should fire up ok, but take it off idle and it'll run like crap.  If that happens, either get a new brain box (CDI or more correctly TDI) or swap rotors as the timing is slightly different.

I'm thinking...Depends on if it's a 4spd or a 5spd.Seems like that's when it changed.I put my 4spd flywheel('87) on a 5spd engine('02)and it worked...Thanks to Verslagen for that help. ;)
