Hello everybody,
- What are the possible reasons for having white smoke coming from the exhaust?
this is a S40 2008 and since my last trip 2 months ago I haven't touch the bike; I'm using 10/40 oil
appreciate any tips

We need more information. How many miles on the bike, when do you see the white smoke, does the oil level change after a long ride, what kind of riding do you do (35mph city stuff or 75mph highway).

- The bike has 30K,
- White smoke is coming out from exhaust when turn on,
- Yes oil level change after long trips (300 miles or more)
- I do both commute riding 3 days a week 35mph and 75mph long trips twice a month (average)
... I have the bike working full time, but after my latest trip 2 months ago I haven't touch it. Yesterday I changed battery turned on the bike and noticed the problem.

Oil use on long highway speed rides is normal for this bike...

Your smoke is probably just condensation build up in the pipe...
Mostly just at start-up?... Mostly mornings?...

Temperature difference between the outside and inside of the pipe cause water to condensate,.. like sweat on a cold glass of iced tea...
Then,.. the hot exhaust evaporates it out yer' pipe... making white smoke...(water vapor)...

Has it just gotten cooler in the mornings? Notice what ya see following cars when its cold. You can tell which cars just joined the fray. Their exhaust looks like fog. Once the pipes get good & hot & all the moisture is gone, Then ya can tell something,,
