Yep, it is a great idea.  I never worried about it much with my 300-400 pounds bikes - then I got the 740 pound ST1100, and ramps got really intimidating and I no longer could just push the bike up a narrow 6" piece of channel.

I have been able to adapt my trailer and I bought a pair of wide aluminum ramps that allow me to walk on one while the bike is on the other - but it is still very scary.

Something that you can stay flat on the ground while loading would be a huge plus.

expensive cause you can't have an axle joining both wheels.

another option would be to slide the bed back and drop it to the ground.

At a minute and forty nine seconds you can see what looks like a drop axle going between the wheels. Something besides the springs has gotta be in there.. I think.. I'm going to do some digging and see what I can find.

Well, looks like there's more than one way to skin a cat..and I don't see anything that looks like a connecting crossmember of any kind..

Oooooh!  I like the second one!

Not me... I like the first one.... being able to sit on the bike and not have to push it on and off by hand.
You could actually build the first one fairly easily and use a boat ratchet to take it up and down....then pin the inner frame, once it is level.
Build it all out of square tube steel....

Wouldn't it be easy enough to add runners to the second one to make riding on work out?If so,I like it better..

I need a trailer for the ST1100 in order to get my wife to participate.  She is willing to ride on the back of the motorcycle while we explore fun vacation spots - but she is not willing to sit back there for hours while we get to those vacation spots.  She does't like riding on the superslabs for any length of time, and if wet weather arrives she would rather be riding in the car.

Back in the 60's.  Had a, 'Ice House', on a trailer. The trailer was 'attached', to the, ice house'.  When you got to your spot, you just, un did the ball, and, 'cranked' up.  The, the trailer, hitch, raised , setting the fish house down.

It was bought used by my Dad, from a farmer, who welded them up.

I am thinking, one can get a, 'frame', from 100's of, 'ice house', trailer makers, and weld, up/on, a channel/track, to hold a  MC.

OBTW, 'Ice House' = a box, where one take it, and drives,  when their is 2+ FEET of ice on the lake, Sets it down, drills holes through the ice, turns on the heater, turns on the TV, pops open a 'amber fluid', makes popcorn, fries up some burgers, then,    OH   "Fishes".     LLOLOLO   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yep.....a welder completely changes how you fix or build things.

Then when you need the next upgrade....a drill press, band saw, lathe, milling machine! ::)

If I buy all that stuff, i'll have to purchase me a separate workshop! Maybe I can find someone with a bike shop that wants a cleanup tech., I could push brooms and put stuff away for no pay, IF they let me use the equipment! :D :D 8-)

A bike shop or even a machine shop as long as they aren't a franchise, I'm sure they would take you up on that offer OR  ;)
