my front brake had gone almost completely soft. I assumed it was the fluid so I bled it using advice from the site... new fluid is in it now, and from what I can tell there's no air bubbles. but... the lever is now completely loose. when i pull them the brake pads don't move a centimeter.

could it really just be a filthy caliper?

also, after working on the brakes all of a sudden my front left and both rear riding lights won't turn on (but all three blinkers work).... it is possible I got brake fluid in some wiring?

spent all afternoon on it and I've gotten nowhere. sigh.

could be a bad master or a bad hose.

a centimeter is 10 millimeters... a millimeter is about .04"... so .400"
I don't think it can move that much.

check the connections in the headlight and check the bulbs.

Apply foot brake. You get the same lighting as the hand brake?

If your lights are stock,... you don't have any running lights in the rear... (you may not have noticed before)...
So,... you only have one light out on the left front... Test that bulb...
