Title: Question on compatible parts for 1999
Post by cjacobs on 09/04/14 at 06:53:35

Does anyone know for which years parts are compatible with the 1999 Savage?  Some of the parts (ie - gas tank) for the 1999 have been discontinued and I'm wondering if there are still available parts which would work from newer year models.

Thanks!

Most all year parts are interchangeable.

some are not.

tank is, but there are 2 types, CA model with a non vented cap and all states model.

When the gas tanks is "discontinued".....that would mean that Suzuki no longer provides it in the paint scheme that matches that year.  The tanks will all bolt on - the paint and emblems just won't look the same.

If you do get the California model that Verslagen mentioned.  You just need to cap the vent tube if you are running a vented cap - or extend a rubber tube from the metal tank tube if it is a CA model.

That's good news!  Thanks Verslagen.  I assume then that I can buy a new tank for an early 2000-2006 (or so) Boulevard S40 which would probably work.

Thank you Dave.  Not too concerned about the emblem on the tank, any will look better than the dent my tank currently has.

You might not want to buy a new tank....they are probably pretty darn expensive.  Good used tanks are reasonable.

I sold both fenders, tank and side covers from a really clean low mileage bike for $ 400 for the entire set.  Many guys converting to a Cafe' or Bobber bikes will sell the full set and then use a different tank for the conversion.
