Title: Front pulley assembly
Post by Thomas Högberg on 08/31/14 at 05:00:05

Hi
I am reassembling the bike after doing a valve job due to low compression.

a couple of questions:

How do I keep the front pulley still when I tourqe it to spec 100-130 Nm?

Where do you guys buy a new drive belt, here in sweden they cost 513 us dollars... :(

/Thomas

Put the whole bike together.Have somebody press on the rear brake, with belt on.Torque the nut.Why do you need a new belt?Very rarely do they go bad.

That´s the way we did and it worked just fine... until I wanted to check the tension of the belt and discovered that it had ripped halfway through  >:(

answers your question why I need a new belt  ;)

Best way to tighten the belt, is to use a ratcheting tie-down strap, to strap the rear wheel against a post...

Our belt is not made by Suzuki...:o...
It's an industrial belt...
Made by Bando... They have production and distribution in north and south America,...

Savage belt spec
Bando 133U 14M 40.0

I guess that means 133 teeth, 14mm pitch and 40mm wide

Because of you location,... you may want to swap to a chain drive...

Thomas, plenty of guys have converted their bikes to chain and sprockets for various reasons.  On this forum, the section called Marketplace, sometimes has left over belts for sale.  You could advertise there that you want to buy (WTB) a drive belt.  Also Ebay occasionally has one, at least here in the US.  They aren't very heavy so the shipping might not be prohibitive.  A bike parts place here in the US often sells used but still good parts, it is called Pinwall and they have an Ebay store.  Good luck.

Thanks for your tips, I found a new, unused belt today for a reasonable price  :)
