Title: Valve seals
Post by Thomas Högberg on 08/25/14 at 04:09:53

Hi
about to replace my valve seals, do you just pull the old ones off with pliers or what?

And what about the new ones, how do you seat them?

I believe I just used a screwdriver to push up the bottom of them to pop them off.

I don't believe seating them was anything more than just pushing them on with my fingers.

I really don't remember it being anything difficult.

Is the head off or are you doing on the bike?

On the bike you need to pressurize the cylinder to hold the valve shut.  You can do this by modifying a spark plug or using the hose from a compression tester connected to an air compressor.

Just oil the valve seals so they go on easier.

Thanks Seaweednh for your tip  :)

The head is off the engine and the seals and valves are now mounted  :)
