Title: pressing in new swing arm bearings
Post by Jsud04 on 08/17/14 at 13:22:53

I removed my old stock swing arm bearings because 28 yrs has left them...shot...for pressing in the new I was going to use a threaded rod and two pieces of steel. When threading the nuts on it should compress the bearing into place...

Is my logic sound?

Well.....maybe.

Most devices used for pulling with threads used very fine threads, and sometimes square threads to held reduce friction.  Threaded rod is very coarse thread and you may not end up with enough pulling power.

You can try.....just lube those threads up really well and use the largest threaded rod you can fit/find/pay for.
