Title: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME
Post by LANCER on 08/07/14 at 19:36:34

Guess what my wonderful wife has arranged for my 65th birthday ?
No, not that.
Nope, not that either.
Well, since you did not get it ... she has arranged for me to go sky diving !  :D

Yep.
Is she a great woman or what ? !  ;)

I've always wanted to jump but it just never worked out before, even when in the military.  The timing just did not work out.

Y E A ! ! !   ;D  8-)

Is this going to be a tandem jump or solo?

Is that with or without chute?

Having your wife line-up a sky-diving adventure is a good thing;
if she also wants to pack your chute -- not so much.

Awesome!  (I turn 62 in a couple days... no jumping out of planes for me.)  So, take an extension cord up with you. If your chute fails just throw the extension cord out and it will hang up on something on the way down!   ::)

well bud, I think you'll get the 1st two things I guessed anyway...   8-)

and who would want to jump outta a perfectly good helicopter if you were at the controls anyway?

just make sure she don't take a big insurance package anytime soon.   :-?

wishing you a very happy b'day.   [smiley=birthdays.gif]

It is a tandem jump; I'm no fool thinking I'm good for a solo "first time up".  ::)
I know better than that, thank you very much.   ;D
By the way, my wife is an insurance professional.  She's been at it for over 30 years and as far as I know has not taken out any extra policies on me.  :o

I don't know what height you will be diving from, I did a tandem from 12000 feet for my sixty second, remember they don't supply a rope ladder to go back in the plane once you are pushed out. The experience was quite interesting, but my ears rang for several days after and I managed to fall backwards on the professional when we landed. So have an enjoyable birthday and I hope you get the US pension.

Happy Birthday, Lancer.

Enjoy the jump. Hope it's as enjoyable as you think it will be.

This should be a lot of fun.   I'm stoked.

The jump is from above 10k with free-fall to 5k.
Already have a pension.   ;)

Things like this always go faster than anticipated; I am use to that.  I spent a lot of time in the air in aircraft, and yes this is different, but being comfortable in the air does have some crossover for this, and being accustomed to trying new things in the air is a useful experience as well.

It is good that our loving wife' still knows how to bring some excitement into our lives.

My wife bought me 8 laps of Kentucky Speedway....driving a Nascar.  The entire thing only took 6 minutes....and I was mentally exhausted when it was over....and highly stimulated.  I was so far out of my comfort zone, and yet having a really good time.

Have fun Lancer.....

Dave

All my jumps were static line in the Army, but I loved it. I think you will have a great experience. Keep your feet and knees together Airborne!

Happy Birthday and best wishes for many more! I was in the 82nd in the Army for 5 years, and loved it! But when I jumped, the planes still had propellers. When I turned 60, my wife asked if I'd like to skydive. My response? "Have you recently taken out an insurance policy on me I don't know about?" All kidding aside, we only go around once, so good luck and remember to turn into the wind before touchdown.

I'd rather stick a gun in my mouth and play Russian Roulette.

Hey Lancer, Happy Birthday man.
That is what I was going to do for my
50th. Then I went and got my mc endorsement
instead.
If George Bush can do it at 80 and again at 90
why not you?
I do hope we get to see some pics
Kudos to your wife for doing this.
My B-day is soon an if she wants to do this for
me I would love it too..
xoxo B-day hugs.. :) kim and Genie
