Title: Backfiring
Post by Silverhippi on 08/07/14 at 17:59:00

My bike seems to always backfire when I am trying to look cool  ;D

It's the backfire that makes you cool.  Embrace the backfire. Be one with the backfire.

I like to pull up at gas stations with a bunch of soccer moms, hit the kill switch, and watch them all jump.

I work in "the 'hood"... I'll wind the throttle tight in a low gear, and chop it shut when the light turns red... goes off like a large bore blackpowder rifle... several times usually.

It is extra fun to do in front of Graceland when it is full of tourists. Memphis is the most violent per capita city in the USA, and ALL the tour guides warn people of that fact... Helps that Graceland is in one of the worse parts of the city.

::)

If you don't like it on the shut down, before you shut it down pull the choke out then hit the kill switch. Remember to push the choke back in and re-set the kill switch otherwise you will be disappointed when you try to start it the next time. Ask me how I know...  ;)

"its not a backfire,it's a belch of horsepower"

This is the forum quote of the year.

Agreed! Haha
My backfire used to embarrass me when I had a terrible almost hollow muffler that the bike came with. Once I switched to the Dyna I felt better about it, and now I try to make it do it every once in a while for giggles. Yes it makes me "giggle"  ;D
My shut off explosion has unfortunately turned into more of a belch/fart noise with the Dyna, but often that makes me actually laugh so I guess it's ok lol. I do miss the gunshot sometimes though  :-[
