Title: budget bobber build 2.0
Post by blueknight on 08/04/14 at 17:54:49

So... I had another thread on here documenting my build however I had a minor lapse in thinking and moved the pics around in my photobucket account and broke all my links and pretty much killed the thread so here goes another try.  I picked up an 86 savage earlier this year as the base platform for my first project/ bobber build because of its simple mechanics.

the previous owner hacked up the stock bars and came up with this weird set up that now hangs in the garage as a conversation piece.

it took me a long time to come up with a tank that gave this little bobber the perfect low and narrow look im going after. then lowbrow customs released this little p-nut tank and it is a perfect fit all the way around

I took on a new skill after not being able to locate a seat that was to my liking.

Nice. Single backbone frames are definitely more elegant. Really like the pegs. Don't understand the fuel bottle? Is this for reserve situation?

The p nut tank only holds 2 gallons so I wanted to have some sort of reserve.

IDK what that guy took before he decided he could improve the bars that way,but I don't want to Ever get any of it.
I wish you'd take a step back and give us a few shots of the equipment.
Especially the drill press.

Looks cool.  A hand off the throttle and front brakes for every shift is going to be kinda lame.  But I dont imagine this bike is for function as much as looks.

Looks like a fun build.

Well... After nearly a five year hiatus (daughter being born, buying a house, changing career paths.) it's finally time to bring this little dream to fruition and get this thing to some local shows. More pics to come tonight.
