Title: Speedo Cable Post by NHLycan on 08/04/14 at 13:25:17 The little wire tie on the speedometer cable, that works as the cable cover stop, is it supposed to be there or did it get left on by mistake? And if it's supposed to be there, well that's kinda hinky aint it? |

Title: Re: Speedo Cable Post by NHLycan on 08/05/14 at 05:22:25 On the speedometer cable that runs from the underside of the gas tank, to the case, there is a stainless steel spring/cover, which surrounds the black plastic cable. I had to replace it recently (was leaking oil and had worn thru in the middle) and the new one came shipped with a little plastic wire tie, like the kind the police use now to cuff people, only much smaller. It was preventing the stainless steel spring/cover from going all the way up to the bottom of the tank. When I took the old one off, it also had this wire tie in about the same place. I found it weird. |

Title: Re: Speedo Cable Post by stewmills on 08/05/14 at 07:06:38 When I did some work a couple of weeks ago I noted the same on mine and as best I can interpret it is there to keep the spring coil/cover from sliding down. It probably needs to stay under the tank area to keep the cable from getting pinched/compressed under the tank. That's my guess. Did I win??? Did I win??? ;D ;D |
