So my wife comes back from a mc ride with her dad(as passenger) and tells me I need to get licensed so we can go on rides with dad. I replied "that's fine, but you will have to do the same if you want to come" lol =) This was about a month ago. As of mid last week she has completed riding school, passed her skills test and can now ride on her own with a few restrictions until she does her road test. So I had this 1988 Suzuki Savage I got in a trade a few years ago. Pulled it out fires up great. I knew the clutch was slipping so started searching online for info and found this place. Sure glad I did! Did a bunch of reading and had a pretty good idea on what to expect. With 20,500 miles on the odometer I wasn't surprised to see the cc tensioner nearly coming apart. So far I've refurbished the clutch and replaced the push pin with the 46.5 mm one, extended the cct, new side gasket, new oil filter with rotella t 15w40 oil, new battery, and front brake pads. I also had to turn the idle up a bit and adjust the front brake light switch. This thing runs alot quieter now and the clutch grabs and holds like new. As of yesterday it is now insured and the wife can go ride now with something decently reliable. Next will be a new spark plug and a valve setting.
