Title: Redline oil
Post by Michael L on 08/04/14 at 07:14:31

hey savages

Just bought 2 bottles of Redline 10w40 for the bike at around 50$ .. I thought it would be ok to sacrifice my money for a good quality oil, since oil changes is only once a year, and at the same time avoid the hassle of calculating and adding zddp... But, I don't ride that many kilometers so I was thinking, do I have to change the oil every year even if I've only ridden say 500 to 1000 km.? Still it's only once a year, but it would be a shame to throw out such good oil imo...

Do you put up your bike and stop riding in the winter?  IF so.....you should change the oil prior to putting the bike away for the winter.  There are acids that build up in oil, and they are not good for an engine that is dormant.

Why don't you contact Redline and ask them?.....I betcha' they know more about oil than I do.

Thanks for the quick reply

Yes I put the bike away during the winther months..

It looks like I do need to change it once a year because of the build up of acid and other chemicals..

I need to ride more  :)
