Title: Another CL ad - will never sell
Post by Steve H on 07/29/14 at 15:16:36

He's only $700 over MSRP for a 2014 model.

"2013 Suzuki S40 for sale. Less than 600 miles. In new/like new condition. Has been stored indoors. It is a perfect bike for riders with shorter legs with a seat height of 27 inches. Curb weight: 381 lbs. Engine: 4 stroke, air cooled. Has never been dropped. I am the original owner, am only selling because I am not a confident rider and don't want to ride anymore. Feel free to email with more questions. Price is $6200 OBO. If you call, please leave a voicemail as it is a google voice number. "

Here's a link to the original ad just in case anybody's interested.  :)

I'd try to talk him down $10... 'cause it's due for an oil change... :-/...

...then, maybe $2000 more 'cause it's a frikkin' year old bike... ;D...

Craigslist is full of dreamers.

A year ago, before we got the TV, I was amazed at the ads trying to sell old projection TVs for more than new LEDs.  Shoot, TVs aren't even worth stealing anymore. I know somebody whose house just got robbed, and the electronics, including a 60" TV went untouched. The Sheriff said the criminals are going for only hidden cash and jewelry.

If I were interested, I'd offer the lower nada/kbb retail price, print out the web page and show it to him.  State to him it's due for the 1st maintenance and deduct $500 or so.  If he doesn't accept that as an honest price, write down your contact info on the web page and walk.

Most likely he bought from a dealer that didn't cut him a deal, charged him set up, shipping....and remembers what he paid in taxes and licensing.

Some of those charges don't apply when you go to sell the bike used! ;)
