Hey all , does anyone have any idea if there are fork stanchions that are interchangeable with a 1988 savage - I mean from another make of bike or another suzuki model and not a 1989 or later sav :) many thanks - I tell you something the weather in the UK at the mo' is perfect biking weather - love it.

You mean a fork brace? I've only ever seen the TKat and Superbrace. I'm not aware of any that are a direct swap from another bike...

And if you mean something else by stanchion, my apologies. Carry on, soldier.

I think he means risers for the handlebars.

If you are talking fork tubes all you need to do is measure the diameter, mine measure just under 38 mm, and compare it to what is listed in the specs for other bikes. Then there are many other considerations like the length, position of the brake etc.

Yeah I mean the fork tubes, sorry - you dont call them stanchions t'other side of th'Atlantic then ? anyways I've just had a look at the cost of getting them ground down and re-chromed and tbh thats not too expensive ( well, by not too expensive I mean its cheaper than two new fork legs ) thanks

We is poor uneducated folk, and only know what the part book tells us.
They call them front dampers.
You must forgive the Japanese, they were taught English by the Jesuits.

You can usually pick up a good set in the bay of fleas between 100 and 200.

OK....I spent a few years riding a Trials Bike, and the forums often had comments from the UK. It took me a while to decipher a few things, and I can help with some translations.

NO JOY - Bike won't start.

Tickover - Engine idling.

Wobbly - Unsteady rider, or flex ratchet extension.

Diddy - I think this mean small.
