Title: Did my Cam Chain Tensioner...
Post by EJID on 07/20/14 at 22:01:33

So I got in on the 2 for 1 deal that Verslagen was doing about a month ago or so, and just got around to installing it this weekend. Initially I was planning on waiting until this fall/winter to tear it down and swap it out, but after opening it up, I'm glad I didn't wait any longer.

Just under 11,000 miles on my 2005

My best measurement was just over 19mm

New one installed in the 2nd hole at about 3mm

Just for your information, with my EdL forward controls, I didn't have to take my pegs off at all, I had plenty of clearance. I spent more time trying to line back up my header with a new exhaust gasket to not have any leaks than I did doing any of the Cam Chain Tensioner replacement.

Ain't they pretty inside?...
You would expect them to be rough and dirty after all those hard miles,... and you open them up, and they're beautiful...
Cleaner on the inside than on the outside...
Ssssssweet!... ;)...

Very cool! By the way, where did you get the crash bar?

Great Photographs! I'll be referring to these when I get the nerve to make the swap.

It's the stock bar, came in a box of parts from the previous owner.  8-)

I didn't realize the battery cover had a lock on it. My battery cover was all bent up then repainted black, and lacking any cover lock.

Given the state of the cover... I think was is more appropriate guess.

Any particular reason you chose the synthetic over the regular Rotella T?

After following these boards ever since I got the bike from the previous owner back in 2009 Rotella has been highly recommended. I started with the regular Rotella T because that's all I could find, but after searching more I moved to the full synthetic T6, then when they didn't have that I tried the blend T5.

Since this is my "toy" and I want to make sure it will last me many more years I try to treat my "toys" with extra care and it's worth the little extra $ spent since I usually only change my oil once a year. Through all the threads on this website you will find more scientific evidence, but I trust the others who have tested it to the max to tell me what is a good recommended oil and any variant of the Rotella seems to be favorable.
