Title: Das Boot
Post by BalingWire on 06/30/14 at 11:22:55

I've got the battery and air cleaner removed, and I am contemplating installation of the motorcycle's electronics and a small lithium battery into either fake oil tank or something leather.

And then it hit me. If an old woman can live in a shoe, why not an electrical system?

If I didn't have such big foot, it actually might work.  :)

I went the fake oil tank route, it's nice and rusty now though. Stash yours into a leather tool bag. Although my leather tool bag got moldy, figures...

I'm really interested to see what you use for a left boot after this... :-/...

I like the idea; I've been ebaying that direction. :)

I wonder if "Leather Therapy Restorer & Conditioner" from Tractor Supply would work to keep leather from going moldy.  Or clean it up too. I've got a leather scabbard for a K-bar knife that is moldy.

16 oz. $20.99 tractorsupply.com/en/store/leather-therapy-restorer--conditioner-16-oz

Shoot, it might even preserve an ol' leathery and moldy farmer. :)

Well in its defense, I've never cleaned my bike and it sleeps outside under a canopy.

Sorry to disappoint, fellows, but the boot went back on my foot, the battery returned to station on the bike (strapped in temporarily) and I went lollygagging 25 miles looking at the crops and neighbors' farms and enjoying the sun set below the front coming in from the West.

A slow old farmer in the pickup truck doing 45..that's me. Except I'm on a bike, scouting the land and processing information. Corn looks great, beans OK, township trustees having a meeting, tile getting fixed, another pasture plowed under and put to row crops, etc.

I honked at some neighbors, who don't know it was me, but they waved anyway. Then I waved at another motorcyclist, and accidentally honked at him as I put my hand on the handle again.

I really like the sound of that K&N filter too.

Once my battery dies, I'm getting a small lithium, trash the battery box and will use old leather belt to strap the battery to the frame.

That's what I did, looks cool.

Hit the thrift shop and get a smaller sized one   ;)
