Title: Solo Seat Dimensions
Post by JohnsonLager on 06/27/14 at 17:57:18

What solo seat dimensions have worked for people on S40s?
I measured only 5" from hole to hole on the frame where I think the back posts on a solo seat should go and when I look up solo seats the typical lengths are 6.5"-7".

My solo seat bolt to bolt on the rear is 71/4

Any solo seat can work just depends if you can weld or not or no someone who can  :o

Might not even have to weld.2x6(or so)x 1/8" flat stock.Drilled hole to match the holes in the frame where the rear fender bolt on.Put shorter bolts through fender.Bolt the plate on from the top.Drilled holes in the plate to match seat studs.Bolted the springs to the plate.Seat studs are just guides in the springs.

Those useless hairpin springs didn't seem to move so much as a fraction of an inch... Why are you laughing? Pic looks decent enough to be in the TT thread on that subject...

Odd. When I had a set of them, I bottomed them out and only weighed about 240# at the time. That's why I switched to 5 inch barrel springs.

When the solo seat conversion and rigid frame bars get done I'll probably use riding mower seat springs. Just the right amount of "give" to those, and I happen to have a junk mower as a perfect spring donor...

Just an aftermarket hinge and frame clamp kit.The frame clamp bolts to the stock tank mount where the tab for the stock seat went.I don't have any good pics of the springs and plate right now.
