Title: Carb needle seat question.
Post by doh13 on 06/25/14 at 18:12:26

Hi I would like to know if there is a small o ring inside of the needle seat that the float needle rests on ? I ask this because when i was cleaning my needle seat I didn't notice any small o ring inside there and i suspect that there is fuel leaking into my engine. Here is a pic of a kit on fleabay which has the small oring that i am asking about but im not sure what the other o ring is for? http://s8.postimg.org/tjwx6tkn9/image.jpg

No O-ring is inside the brass seat insert.  The needle has a Viton rubber tip that seals against the brass seat.

Thanks Dave , I plan to adjust the float with the proper caliper tool  I did the clear tube test and it was a bit below the bowl but seemed close to another guys pic  I'm not sure if this would be "good enough" or not in the clymers it says  not to let the float compress the spring on the needle does this matter? if adjusting the float does not help then I will have to replace the needle and seat since I have a feeling fuel is leaking into the engine oil.

I have always let the weight of the float rest on the needle when making the measurement.
