Title: Rain riding suggestions
Post by Bentnotbroken on 06/22/14 at 19:54:40

I recently got back on two wheels with a '13 s40. I love it, especially the bang for the buck! Aside from the small gas tank I didn't have any complaints. Until today, when I embarked on a 150 mile day trip in which I got caught in between some serious downpours. I mostly avoided the actual rain falls but found cruising on wet pavement resulted in me getting quickly drenched. I am investing in some Frogg Toggs (or the like) but wanted to see if any of y'all had suggestions/easy mods/best practices to deter the water splattering all over me should I again ride on wet pavement.

(Btw, this site was one of the deciding factors in buying this bike, thanks 8-))

Max Morley's Light Tourer with a decent front fender:

The stock front mudguard will let your boots and lower legs cop it. Serowbot made quite a useful extension to his guard.

I brought a rubber fender extender which is a cheap option that helps.

Interesting.... I may look into extending the fender. Any tips for a mechanically declined rider to achieve that?

Thank you all for replying - I do appreciate it

Earlier in the year, two days in a row, I got to work and was able to pour water out of my shoes. I got the Chippewa Motorcycle boots, which I wear in all seasons for safety's sake, and they work great.

Ok, thx for the suggestion! I've also been recommended Durango boots - I will have research and compare.
