Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by Serowbot on 06/21/14 at 16:11:26 Pretty sweet, SP... very G.I.Joe... ;)... Headlight and signals might be too chromey... any thought to some blackout on them?... maybe a headlight visor or shield?... This one's a bit much.. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tdMa1Y-qIbs/UTYKCMrWhVI/AAAAAAAAYuc/08qOU3pYNM4/s1600/blackout_hood_WWII.jpg I did this grill thing from expanded metal.. http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt82/serowbot/fkbc_zpsfe5ceb43.jpg |
Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by S-P on 06/21/14 at 18:38:06 Thanks! Yeah, I'm slowly working my way through the chrome to decide what to black out or remove. I don't want to go crazy and just black out everything, at least not yet. ;) I like the expanded metal grill! What are the clips you used? Available at ACE hardware? |
Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by Serowbot on 06/21/14 at 20:20:19 Those are wiring loom, foldover tabs... came off a bike somewhere... Not sure if it was a Savage or what... I just gather pieces and save them... (I think it from the rear fender signal wire routing on my stock fender, come to think of it)... ;)... It's good to make the grill easily removable for lens cleaning...(lot'sa bugs).... Anyway,... nice work, SP... :)... |

Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by PerrydaSavage on 06/23/14 at 08:14:07 Nice job man! Always loved O.D. green on a motorcycle! |
Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by ToesNose on 06/24/14 at 19:06:08 Looking good S-P, if you don't want to get rid of all the chome you can always sand it down to a brushed less shiny finish ;) |

OHHHH!!! THAT is a cool idea! I may be spending the weekend painting! OR riding... I'll try to post more pictures. I'm working on re-arranging the battery. I just bought a stock size battery so I don't want to do anything permanent until it dies and I get a smaller one. I figured out how to brace it in where the old air box was for now. I'm also trying to think of something cool to put on the front fender license plate. |

Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by S-P on 06/26/14 at 19:35:29 Right side. I removed the airbox and moved the stock battery back. Once this one dies and I can get a smaller one, I'll do a permanent battery mount mod. |
Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by S-P on 06/26/14 at 19:36:50 Left side. I found an Israeli paratroopers bag at a surplus store. Fit perfectly zip tied on the saddle bag mounts. |
Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by Albert Verdugo on 12/26/15 at 17:28:18 looks awesome! :D |
Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by HovisPresley on 12/26/15 at 18:14:31 I have to agree 8-) Personally, I'd go with a bit less chrome, but that front end looks great :) The front mudguard/fender looks like it was almost designed for the bike, as do the panniers. Always a winner ;) |
Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by Gus on 12/26/15 at 19:01:43 S-P, Very nice rendition of an early military motorbike. I love it. |
Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by Kris01 on 12/26/15 at 22:33:25 S-P hasn't been here for almost a year. Great looking bike nonetheless. |
Title: Re: My WW II tribute bike Post by jcstokes on 12/27/15 at 01:24:03 The machine looks very good in it's current style, it isn't a fighter plane and sharks teeth wouldn't enhance it. Aside from the chrome, it looks very authentic, and what you do with the chrome/aluminium is entirely up to you. |
