I know this is a dead thread from years ago but since i am fairly new I am interested in what  happened to the improved cam chain deal did it ever go through or  did it die? I have been interested in what causes the cam chain and tensioner  problems so soon and why haven't suzuki done anything about it in all these years.
1. Does the chain stretch more than a normal cam chain?
2. If the chain stretches more than normal Does the cam chain stretch because of too much spring force is applied to the tensioner or the  tensioner gets ratcheted too tight when running the bike hard?

3. I gathered from reading the forum that the tensioner is maxed out and at danger of popping out the spring when the cam chain is only at approx 1/2 its wear. This suggests that the tensioner design is not adequate the chain may not be either. hence the verg designed tensioner improvement which seems to let the cam chain work for 50,000+ miles because of the second hole. 50,000 miles on a cam chain is pretty decent isnt it?
Maybe i answered my own question, the tentioner is at fault because of the lack of adjustment it can accommodate which seems to be poorly designed and i am not sure why suzuki will not design a fix for this issue  even though this bike is not as popular as there others it should be worth it for the good reputation the bike would get for being a tough fairly maintenance free motor.

There was a special run of chains that were quickly gobbled up. I believe all have been installed. I had one in a jar of oil for quite a while & wound up selling it,

I see, so they did go through with it. i guess they should have bought about 50 extra as im sure they would have sold . I am curious how much better these chains are compared to stock.

I sold my bike,so I don't know how the wear rates compare, but I Think others have a good idea. Several who bought those are still here..
