Title: Redline ZDDP fail
Post by Dave on 06/18/14 at 04:11:21

I was changing my oil yesterday and reached for my Redline ZDDP additive.  There was a sludge in the bottom, and no amount of shaking would get it off the bottom.  I had a new bottle that was purchased at the same time - so I opened it and used 1 oz.

I will send an inquiry to Redline.....maybe it does not keep on the shelf for more than a year when opened.  Since it only takes an ounce each oil change - one bottle would supply me with enough ZDDP for 8 years of oil changes!

Hmmm I wonder what would cause that to happen from being exposed to the air, kinda weird.  Let us know what the people at Redline have to say Dave    :-?

I was looking for, 'Red Line", "Eastwood', 'ZDDPlus", and found this:

Anyone have experience with this product?

Web Page for the product :

I emailed the mfr. and asked. They got back to me in less than an hour. Here's the answer:

Thanks for the email.  We do not recommend using the Zinc RA in wet clutch systems.  Yes it could cause slipping.

I specifically asked about unit construction motorcyle engines with wet clutches.
