Title: ruff ruff runnin'
Post by ThumperKat on 06/17/14 at 15:26:44

Hi all, been awhile and I have a question. I stripped my carb down last winter, cleaned and back together. Ran great..but..now its running rough, have to start with full choke and it will sputter and die unless it runs for ever (15 mins approx) on choke until it will run off choke. If I sea foam it, do I just squirt thru fuel line or will I need to pull the carb? Does it sound like its stuck or a dirty jet? I did have small particles in filter, which has been pulled. Its getting gas and plug is clean. My mix screw is set about 1 1/2 turns out I think. Thanks in advance everyone.
Gotta get on the road!

Do you have the stock petcock or a Raptor?

I don't think Sea foam will help since you recently had it apart and cleaned it.  My guess is that some dirt broke loose and is messing up the normal operation of the carb.  Before you invest a lot of time you can probably drop just the float bowl and clean it and then aim some cleaner or compressed air up into the jets and dislodge any dirt.  Worth a try.

Its running a raptor. Thanks, that makes sense, will try that, drop the bowl etc, easy fix first. Will post  results tomorrow. Thanks again.

The Pilot jet is the smallest hole in the system....and most likely the spot you should try cleaning first if you are dropping the bowl and leaving the carb in place.

And if youve got old gas in it, it can act like that
