Title: Pine Family first group ride
Post by Pine on 06/16/14 at 09:21:53

Wife and I, each on our own Vstar, took the plunge and did a charity ride on saturday. It was a first for us in many ways:
First group ride ( we did not know the group)
First group ride together
Longest ride for my wife on her new bike

The official ride was about 100 miles. But it was another 100 or so miles for us because we lived so far from the starting point. So about 200 miles for the day. It was a great ride, very nice folks, and a good cause ( local animal shelter).

Notes:
My wife was the only riding her own MOTORCYCLE, though another lady was riding her own Honda Silverwing ( scooter) that was triked.
We had two scooters, both triked.
We had one one triked Kawa 1300 (kit)
Two goldwings one a 1995 with just over 15000 miles
The bulk were HD's of various models
We were probably the youngest riders, most seemed to be in their 70's (we are 50)

After the ride and upon reaching the home town, the wife decided just to stay on the bike and use it as basic trans to go to church (setting up for VBS). She did not get home until about 10pm. Meaning it was also her first ride on the bike in the dark. (which she did alone, as I was home in bed!)

Good Times

sounds like a great day. I generally don't like large group rides but I do several charity rides every year (one with my grand daughter on the back). If it's for a good cause, I'll usually do it.
