Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by snick on 06/12/14 at 10:17:37 Did u use exaust paint over the wrap I heard it helps to keep the color |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by Demin on 06/12/14 at 10:31:25 Nope, never got around to it.Bought black for it. |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by snick on 06/12/14 at 11:23:05 Did the black hold its color better and do u think it would fit with the way the bike looks |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/12/14 at 11:26:01 I cant speak for Demin re: the black holding its color, but on a black bike? Id say go for it,, It Is black, innit? Pictures can fail to show exact color, I guess it could be a dark blue,, But, Id expect the wrap to stay black,,& If it didnt, you could shoot some High Temp black at it, couldnt you? |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by snick on 06/12/14 at 11:31:28 Yes I was planing on putting ht paint on it n yes its one of those looks black n when the sun hits it the right way its dark blue |

Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by snick on 06/12/14 at 11:50:49 I meant high temp paint on top of the wrap |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by Arnold on 06/12/14 at 11:59:30 I wrapped mine years ago and hi temp sprayed them. The black sorta faded over the years (never washed my bike) but the wrap is holding pretty well. |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by snick on 06/12/14 at 12:02:52 Yes I guess I should expect some type of fading |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by snick on 06/12/14 at 12:08:42 Here is a better pic to get a better idea of the color |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by Arnold on 06/12/14 at 12:18:40 I always liked white better but I knew I'd be too lazy to respray every season. |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by oldNslow on 06/12/14 at 13:11:56 This probably aint gonna help but here goes anyway. I think your bike looks really good without any wrap, and it will look even better when the header turns a nice shade of gold or blue. But if your going to wrap it I'd go with black. |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by snick on 06/12/14 at 13:15:18 Thank you for that oldnslow it is turning a bit gold n bluish |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/12/14 at 13:48:43 Ive never seen one that was wrapped but Ive heard they rust underneath & they stink when wet, |

Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by paulmarshall on 06/13/14 at 16:23:04 I use to us white but after awhile it turned to a tan colour. I talked to BCB and they said that's normal and continued to say that that's how they make there tanned wrap by heating the white up. |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by snick on 06/13/14 at 18:16:09 Yeah thats what im seeing alot of but I heard that black will also fade atleast the one from advance auto I wonder if its just a once dye maybe a double die would hold its color better |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by Demin on 06/13/14 at 19:17:51 Buy a spray can of color silicon. You are supposed to keep it sealed,so it doesn't rot. DEI makes it for their wrap. |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by wolfsgrin on 06/13/14 at 22:25:45 I wanted mine to look like it had been ramblin' down some long rusty roads (road that's a funny word row ad row ad) so I wanted a distressed brown or rustic look. I found khaki or copper. the khaki was too light but probably the way to go for that look. Knowing now how it fades I probably would have bought that and frayed the edges a little. Nope I ordered the copper it looked darker in the pics but it arrived looking like a shiny new penny so I shelved it for a later build maybe a steam punk bobber. I ordered white next and it looks great faded. Maybe when I get white walls I will order some more white wrap and hi temp white spray to keep it clean looking for a week or so. That white is super white brand new. Also had an idea about black and white or any color combination layered together. Definitely wouldn't mind seeing a white and black checkerboard pattern on a header just cut notches into each color wrap and interlock them during the wraping process. Definitely a winner ;) |
Title: Re: what color exhaust wrap to use Post by snick on 06/23/14 at 11:40:23 Ok thanks for all the input this is how the bike looked |
