Title: Went back to stock muffler but kept the cone
Post by Yoshi on 06/08/14 at 18:05:38

I love the sound now, I can just cruise with a nice quiet exhaust or I can twist it and the induction sound is crazy loud!

I tried the dyna and im not a fan of the blue it gets after a while

I tried the MAC performance but its just too loud on highways, I tried the Jardine and its louder than life! (debaffled Jardine video https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10152164952428870&set=vb.534028869&type=2&theater)

I fabbed up a nice plate that I seen someone on here do, when my battery dies I will relocate a mini on the exhaust hanger but for now this will do

Im running 52.5 Pilot and 152.5 Main, is that too rich on the main?

Harley muffs don't usually blue,.. unless they are cat equipped models...

... then,.. they blue exactly where the muffler at the bottom of your pic did...
PS..not sure those are stock Harley muffs... they don't look like the kind I buy...

My pipe is blue as all getout,.. but my HD muff is still shiny chrome after running 18k miles...

I agree with Serowbot.....you don't appear to have a genuine Harley Davidson DYNA muffler.  On the real DYNA the front is not rounded, it tapers like the back does.

Get a real DYNA that does not have the Catalytic element inside the front, and they stay really shiny.....just like Harley intended!

YOSHI-- yes too rich on the main for that stock muffler, I was at sea level with stock muffler and the 145 was perfect after raising the slide needle a little

BOT-- that tank is beautiful, history please?  :-?

My pipe is bluing too but I don't have the back fire now after adjusting the carb.  So, I prefer that than the BOOM sound.

Just speaking for myself,, I dislike the look And sound of the stocker,, A Genuine Dyna  muffler holds up well.. &, IMO, sounds great.. & yea, if youre back to stock on the exhaust, you need to rejet,,Id find a Dyna & re-muff,, but, its YOUR ride,, so, make it suit YOU,,

The mufflers in the picture are a MAC Performance and the other is a Jardine
I will swap between those 2 and the stock one, depending on the mood  ;)

I had a genuine dyna before, I didn't like the way it fit and spit on the brake lever, I also hated how short it looked.

I just re wrapped my Jardine but I'm gonna cruise with the stock for a little bit

Thnaks for the jetting tip, I have to play aound a bit

Mind educating me (newbie to this site)?
When you say 'kept the cone', what does that mean?
Thanks.

Before I was running a cone air intake and an aftermarket muffler

Now Im running the stock muffler but kept the "cone" air filter

Got it.  Thanks.  I knew what the aftermarket filter/airbox delete were.
Just didn't know if you had added some sort of 'cone' to the exhaust; like as a spacer.
Appreciate the clarity.
