Title: Clean Exhaust Pipe
Post by Dodgeman on 05/30/14 at 13:41:08

My wife accidently hung her coat on the muffler side of her S-40 Suzuki, and some of her coat is still on the chrome.  A lesson well learned!!!  Anyways, what would take that off, her coat is not leather, more of a fiber type.  Somebody suggested Autosol Chrome Cleaner, but I'm looking for suggestions from people who has had this problem, and fixed it. Thanks in advance!!

Thanks guys!!  I heated the exhaust pipe, then used a razor blade and all is good.   Her coat has two small spots, but not glaringly that visible.  Thanks again for the input.  Safe riding to you guys!!

Well....we stopped wearing coats down this way about a month ago!

LOL Dave!!  We wear them for extra protection.

I have another question.  Is there somewhere that I can get a good crash bar for the LS650, one that would keep the bike off of you, in case you laid it down.  The ones I've seen are pretty wimpy, probably wouldn't protect the engine hardly.  Thanks in advance!!

Yea.....we have been wearing mesh jackets with armor....and they can be really hot when sitting still.

WD, palidan and old-rider have crash bars on their bikes.....hopefully they can tell you what they came from.

Modified Harley Davidson straight leg frame Knucklehead-Panhead crash bar for one bike, Suzuki factory accessory one on the other.

I'm trying to work up a ready to go install kit for the HD crash bar. Bar is pretty big, mounts via the front lower engine mount bolt and a u-bolt on the down tube.

I noticed the softails use this type of crash bar. Someone near me at work has one, and I was quite shocked harley would simply use a u-shaped bracket. Makes it better for us if we want to modify to fit the savage!  :)

I modified a Honda rebel crash bar for the wife's savage... saved my leg last year!

Old-rider, the Rebel crash bar looks pretty cool. What did you have to do to modify it? Any welding, or just some grinding and drilling? Pictures of the mods?
