Title: understanding different jets
Post by YoungSavage on 05/28/14 at 12:44:45

Afternoon Thumpers,
Just looking at jets on ebay and curious about our jets. What is the operating difference between a non-bleed and bleed pilot jet? Figure it has to do with operation of the pilot circuit with the throttle closed maybe. Also will all bs series jets fit our stock bs40 carb? I have the stock 88 bs40 so are there specifics to that year I need to worry about?

Bleed vs. non-bleed pilot jets makes no difference on our stock BS40 carb.  Some carbs use the bleed holes to supply air to mix with the fuel in the pilot jet circuit....our carb is not built that way.  So the air bleed holes don't function on the BS40 carb.  You can interchange them and the jet size will function the same.
