Title: Oil Drain Plug Stuck
Post by Beagle on 05/26/14 at 13:20:23

I can't for anything get the oil drain plug off!  It's SUPER tight!  Any ideas on how to get this bad boy off?

1st verify you are tuning the wrench in the right direction...
with wrench pointing forward, you're hitting down...
correct?

No, it's not slipping at all.  Just not moving

Most people just smack the end of the wrench with a hammer.
I interlock two wrenches for more torque.

You may need to lock 2 wrenches together or get a cheater pipe AND smack down on it with a hammer. A bunch of smaller taps is better than one whopper SMACKIN,, Ya dont wanna strip the head of that plug. go slow,,

Yes BE SURE you are using a six point, not a crescent wrench!!
It took me several good taps with a hammer on the end of the wrench to break mine loose.  Yes, take it slow, you don't want to break or strip anything.

When you put the drain plug back in....just make it snug.  Don't make it real tight......it doesn't hold the engine in the frame!

Oh I know.  :)  I took it for a 30 minute drive and no oil leakage.
