Post by Ap5112 on 05/25/14 at 20:57:22

My bobber transformation in progress still have to get the exhaust done running just a 2inch pipe with a straight pipe baffle off eBay. Also I used sockets for the risers the bars are keystone bitwell probably painting it all black and the seat I just have to come up with a way to mount the seats rear Springs any suggestions? Need Pegs also and gonna bore it out to a 750 :)

Sebun FIFTY!? YOu gonna a need a bigger cam & carb..
& I have NO idea how the swingy balancer thing could be "adjusted" to make the vibes any better,, Ive wondered if its not a bit heavy, I think Verslagen has experience in that area, & IIRC, it wasnt all good..

It would take a engine balancer to tell you what to do.
From what I can recall in my dynamics text book... There are primary, secondary, tert... terc... er 3rd order vibration (and more) exhibited by the typical 4 stroke internal combustion engines.  I believe out counter balancer does a fairly good job of dampening out the primary's.  I believe those are vertical or aligned with the cylinder as the case may be.  The only way to perfectly balance the vibes out completely is to configure the engine like bmw's opposed horizontal cylinders.  But even then they'll still be those 3rd order vibes.

So there's not a dam thing you can do to improve on it w/out driving yourself nuts.

We had 1 guy put in a wiseco piston and believing that it was precisely balanced, added weight so the new piston weighed exactly the same as the stock.  The added weight broke loose and caused it to fail.  I don't think anyone's complained about more vibes with the new pistons not being balanced besides.

ps, I think jog is referring to a failed CB bearing I had.

Nice job Ap5112. Nice clean look. I'm thinking about the same bars. How do you like them?  I like your seat also, where did you find it?

Thanks guys I found the seat on eBay it was around 80.00 bucks it's a little smaller then what I thought but I'm a little guy so it works. I'm really thinking of doing a raw steal look I can't decide what color to paint it and also I'm trying to figure out how I can mount rearrear turn signals any ideas I can get a better pic of the back if need be? My tank has some small pin holes after being sand blasted sucks so I'm working on that also. I wanna ride so bad lol

It's got a great shape and look!
Are you going to add some small fenders or just deal with the crap getting kicked up all over you and the bike?  :P

;)

Check out this guy's build; it's pretty sweet.
I'm sharing because you might love his turn signals.

Did the seat come with the hinge that attaches to the gas tank mount? Or did you fab that yourself? That hinge is exactly what I need. :)  Very nice work.

You can repair pinholes with solder as long as you get the metal clean and free of rust.  I take the tanks and have them chemically stripped and it removes all the paint and rust.

Take small punch and place it in the pinhole and tap a bit until the pinhole has a slight inward taper.  Then apply acid flux, and a nice small flame or large soldering iron....solder the pinhole closed. It takes a little skill to solder up pinholes that are next to each other without melting the solder out of the nearby hole.

Then file off any excess solder and get it flush.....then coat the tank inside.  The solder will be a bit different color - but if you are going for that look....it might make it better!
