Title: Castrol GTX diesel oil w/zddp Post by shorty on 05/25/14 at 20:12:23 found this on sale, diesel 15w-40 Gallon jug and the label states zddp additive for extra wear protection.. I bought 2 gallons since my diesel tractor would love this, but I wonder if there is enough zddp for the LS650 Tractor Supply Stores is closing them out for $10.88 gallon, my Harley buddy pays almost that much per quart :o |
Title: Re: Castrol GTX diesel oil w/zddp Post by shorty on 05/25/14 at 20:48:37 I did some digging and found this; CJ-4 rated diesel oil (Rotella & Castrol) have a LIMIT of 1200ppm zinc/phosphorus.. so does that mean there must be LESS than 1200ppm? so how much of the s**t is in there? >:( |

Well... if Rotella is "approved" with that wording, so I'd imagine Castrol probably has the same amount as Rotella. Hm. |

Title: Re: Castrol GTX diesel oil w/zddp Post by shorty on 05/26/14 at 06:52:02 that's why I'm using it in the tractor until I learn how much zddp is in the Castrol. It has the exact same ratings as Rotella, CJ-4 specifically addresses zinc/phosphorus content. Castrol specifically states zddp in there for extra wear protection. I believe it's the same, maybe the MSDS will state exact quantity? Regardless I'm getting more ;) |
