Title: permanent move to MUCH higher elevation
Post by shorty on 05/20/14 at 07:39:08

my good friends,

I tossed the white nylon spacer yrs ago (ran better thanks)
but that was @ sea level, now with this permanent move to 4500' I think it will be rich. I need to add some small spacer but don't have the original and don't want THAT much of a thickness anyway.

any suggestions on what thickness to start with? I know the idle mix needs adj but thanks to you all, that brass cover was removed  ;D

The pilot jet controls mixture up to abut 1/4 thottle.  The needle adjustement is the white spacer or washers you use...and that has effect from about 1/8th throttle up to about 3/4 throttle.  The main jet has control from about 3/4 throttle on up.

You most likely will have to address all the jetting....not just the needle.  In place of the white spacer you can use # 4 flat washers from the hardware store.  Three washer is a good place to start.....drop down to 2 washers if you have a flat spot and surging just off idle - but only after making adjustments to the main and pilot jets first.
