Yea she was probably on her phone and couldn't be bothered watching for other motorists.....

At least he wasn't almost a biker pancake-

The biker was probably focused on his tank mounted speedometer....or something.

The SUV driver is an idiot....but the biker should have been able to see it coming if he was riding like he was "naked and invisible".  I hope I never get that casual about any intersection....and watch closely.  But....it only takes an instant for that stuff to happen.

When I go on eBay and look for Savage parts, I see that most of the bikes at Pinwall Cycle are damaged in front end crashes just like that one.  Front forks and wheels are bent....rest of the bike looks good.  I believe running into things is common with entry lever riders.

a) He´s going in WAY too fast for the situation
b) His brake lights are on when he enters the frame so he knows he´s in trouble
c) I can´t help thinking this is his own fault, he should have seen the SUV turning, even if it didn´t show turn signals.
d) seeing the SUV should have told him to aim for the back of it if braking didn´t help
d) maybe he should have been dressed properly, too.
Noob?

This is one of those painful moments that you could wish you could whisper in the offending drivers ear 'move b!tch... com'mon... move!'
you don't dare go in front cause that'll be the moment she finds the gas pedal.  You'd like to go behind but there's another hapless b'tard wishing he could say the same thing.

He probably couldn't maneuver because he was braking hard.

Going for the back end often helps. IF you are aware of the situation. Deer, moose, SUV...the back end weighs less, and is likely to disappear :-)

You mean to tell me that the motorcyclist didn't SEE the car turning LEFT?

He didn't see the car slowing for the turn.
He didn't see the car not stopping for the turn.
He didn't see the car turning.
He didn't move to the left to dodge the car.

People make left turns.  People do not see motorcycles.
Smart motorcyclists know people and dodge.
Non-smart motorcyclists get their pictures on YouTube.

SUV's blinker is on for a long long time prior to, smart rider would have slowed down enough to stop quickly or enough to let the oblivious driver pass safely in front. SUV driver is at fault but the bike rider could have avoided that with smart riding.  :-/

Yep...I see two problems here. Each is at fault in their own way.
The SUV driver failed to yield. Turn signal was on and vehicle was slowing for turn but failed to let oncoming traffic pass before turning.
Bike rider failed to pay attention. Had he been watching his surroundings, he would have been prepared for unexpected actions of the SUV.

I think wat terrifies me more than anything is someone either coming out of a drive or side road, front end already hanging out in my lane, talking on the phone, inching forward.  You never know what they will do.  Even if they look right at you did they see you? Did it register with their addled mind that you are a vehicle on the road? Are they one of those people who must flail around while talking and did not even see you when they looked at you? Keep in mind that they are already distracted, have shown that they don't know where to stop, don't know how to properly apply brakes. I usually come by these idiots as far away from them in my lane as I can get and at a crawl.

Bottom line people, Pay Attention.  You never know what might happen.
