Title: 3 Headlight set up? Post by S-P on 05/10/14 at 21:05:51 Has anyone done a three headlight set up? Something like this. |
Title: Re: 3 Headlight set up? Post by verslagen1 on 05/10/14 at 21:44:17 you'll want to keep the wattage under 100. but you'll want to keep an eye on the battery to make sure it stays charged. |

Yep. Maybe LED's for the "side lights". I like the look and it seems like the visibility factor in oncoming traffic might be better. I noticed that today when I was driving and saw a Hawg with a 3 light headlight in oncoming. I'm also wondering if anyone has done a retrofit or modification and has any suggestions for parts. |

Cool! We have a GREAT boneyard here in Phoenix. I'll check them out! Thanks! |
Title: Re: 3 Headlight set up? Post by ToesNose on 05/11/14 at 06:11:05 I would add a headlight on/off switch to have them off when turning the bike over, and a voltmeter to keep an eye on things since our charging system isn't set up to sustain more then stock electric wise. |

I'm leery of putting anything LED or computer chipped on a bike in AZ. I've baked a couple watches and cell phones in the heat here leaving them in the sun in the summer. :P |
Title: Re: 3 Headlight set up? Post by bobert_FSO on 05/11/14 at 16:30:47 I don't know if it is just me, but I have a little trouble with a bunch of lights on the front of a motorcycle. The reason is that the extra brightness seems to hide/mask the turn signals, making them harder to see. I like big, bright turn signals that are hard for other drivers to overlook. The headlight on my Vulcan 800 is rubber mounted and tends to vibrate a bit, causing a it to appear to be flickering to oncoming drivers. I have not tried to stop the vibration because it is really does get one's attention. Kind of a poor man's modulator, but operating at a higher frequency than modulators. I generally don't drive a night so I don't notice it myself while riding. Are my ideas just plain silly, or is there some merit to them. |

I know when I'm in a car I see the "modulated headlights" better than I do the steady beams. I'm not as concerned about the turn signals as I am just being seen coming head on. I don't think you'd need huge "side lights" just something that is not your standard single headlight so people notice you. |
