Title: I did Versy.........
Post by raydawg on 05/10/14 at 17:20:02

Well, she is in, not bad nat all. His directions and this site make it all possible  ;D
Got some pixs, and questions. What do I look for now, any signs that a problem from my install, other than oil leaks?
Funny when I fired her up, it was like dejavu, as I recall this was how it sounded the first time I fired her up with zero miles on her clock....
Took her for a very short ride as I didn't want to chance it, and the residual oil burning off kinda gets my worry, worted......  :-X

Good work!  It looks great and Verslagen1 does a nice job also when he welds the extension on those tensioners.  How many miles do you have on the bike?

Good luck with the rest of the work, it should all be easy compared to putting in the new tensioner.

Awesome! Yeah, that first kick over after tearing into your motor is a gut punch.  Sounds like you did good!  Mine smoked for a few days after replacing the tensioner for some reason, but it eventually quit.

OK gents, an easy question for you.  My old tensioner was at 18 mm.  So I should use the hole on the left and tighten everything up and pull the zip tie?

yes... mine was at 18k also, used left hole but it was tricky..

the chain hasn't really stretched enough yet

Thanks Shorty.  I guess make sure the chain lines up with the chain guide and pull the zip tie?  Also, I stretched circlip a bit when taking it off.  I reshaped it pretty decently and put it back on.  It's on, fairly snug, but I can't get it off with a screwdriver.  Should I replace that thing as well.  It's only a buck, but it will wait a week to get here.

I paid close attention to the warnings in the link, and I got a niffy snap ring pliers set at  ACE, it came with changeable tips.....
Worked great!

Yeah, I know it.  I couldn't get it to budge then it loosened up real fast.  I had to buy a pair of special pliers, but they were pretty cheap from the local auto store.  Thanks for the effort.
